Visit of the Ballestas Islands and of the National Reserve of Paracas

Our visit of the famous Ballestas islands (the Peruvian "Galapagos") will not only enable you to admire splendid landscapes, but also to be in touch with many animal species in their natural habitat: birds, penguins, seals, etc.

We will meet us in Paracas, to take the boats and begin our maritime circuit where we will discover the rests of a coastal cordillera in which the wind erosion and the sea have worked unconsciously and formed the traditional arcs that originate their name and the rock islands that we are going to visit. An important part of this island is full of noisy and curious sea wolves that will offer us an unforgettable spectacle. We will also appreciate the Humboldt penguin and many other various species of marine birds that always leave the “guano” over the rocks. During the trip, we are going to see the bay and the peninsula of Paracas, where it’s common to hear the sounds of dolphins; the San Martín Port and «El Candelabro» (the Candelabra), an enigmatic form whose explanation still being unknown.

National Reserve of Paracas

We’ll begin the visit in the fisherman’s port of San Andres, a place of preservation and conservation of the bio-diversity, the environment, the ecosystem and of the archaeological zones of Paracas. Right in the entrance of the Paracas Bay, we’ll see the obelisk, commemorative monument dedicated to the expedition directed by Don José de San Martín. We’ll enter to the national Reserve of Paracas and visit the Julio César Tello Museum that shows a great quantity of vestiges of the ancient Paracas culture: skulls with trepanations, ceramics, etc. If we continue our trip, we’ll arrive to the famous “Cathedral of Paracas”, result of the wind erosion and the course of the time where now we can find sea wolves. We will go then to the zone of pink Flemish and we’ll finish our tour by appreciating beautiful beaches like «Lagunillas», perfect for a refreshing bath.
